Not just a soap.
We have a new treat for Pilgrm guests. We’re excited to be collaborating with the Stockholm-based brand, Aárd, who have created a sustainable multi-purpose soap cube made from 100% natural ingredients. It’s time we did more with less, and this one does it all. A soap, body wash and shampoo in one.
Created by Pauline Norden and Martina Carlson, the beauty brand’s main mission is transparency and simplicity; striving to tackle over-consumption and complicated routines. Removing the need for mountains of unnecessary products and wasteful packaging, Aárd wash cubes will be provided in each bathroom at The Pilgrm in a basic cotton bag which allows our guests to take them home. As advocates for ditching complicated processes and unnecessary waste wherever we can, we are proud to join forces with Aárd to provide such a simple yet impactful product for our guests.
Derived from the oldest soap production techniques in the world found in Aleppo, Syria, Aárd cubes are hand-made by a sixth-generation soap maker named Fouad; a true artisan keeping his family traditions alive. Founded in 1848, the family had been making the traditional olive and laurel soap in the heart of Aleppo until the war hit Syria in 2012. They were then sadly forced to flee and move their factory across the Syrian border to the Turkish city of Antakya, where up until this day they continue their production. You can find out more here.
Inspired by the public bathing houses found in the Middle East, the main ingredients include laurel berry oil and olive oil which are harvested from plantations around the Mediterranean Sea. The result is a nourishing, moisturising, and gentle all-over wash.
You can help us make a simple step towards sustainability and support the traditional Syrian craftsmanship by enjoying your Aárd soap cube during your next stay; and don’t forget to take it with you when you leave!
