Coffee with a Cause

Coffee with a Cause

Blending, roasting and grinding are everyday undertakings for any coffee savant, but a small crew have charged themselves with a new mission for how we enjoy our coffee. Established by three friends back in 2013, adopting a 100% organic and ethical practice, Cru always seek to make their packaging as environmental friendly as possible.

A company founded on a practise of using the best beans, from the best farms, each of Cru’s growers work hard to reinvest in their communities and the environment around them. Cru's founding purpose was simple, they wanted to get the best from their Nespresso machines. A quick trip to Kick Starter and CRU Kafe came to life. In part because they blend their finest high altitude beans before roasting and grinding them to perfection, the technique helping to capture flavour and freshness. Today, Cru is a team of 18 in West London, but the trio leading the charge still promise to keep bringing you the roasted and ground coffee as they always have, but its they’re mission to put a dent into the world’s plastic waste that really captures the imagination.

In their own words, “Responsibility doesn’t just lie with individuals; it’s up to businesses to stand up and do the right thing. That’s why we’re committed to creating an ethically sustainable business, and are constantly investing in our products to make sure we leave the smallest footprint possible on the planet.”

Cru won’t be happy until their box to bag to pod packaging is fully biodegradable. And with recent Greenpeace research stating, “Every piece of plastic ever made still exists today, it is both an admirable and powerful cause.

A tall task, but their spirit and sentiment is what makes it such a powerful movement. Cru, we’ll be part of your crew anytime.
