10 reasons to visit London in early 2025
Hello explorer!
The new year is fast approaching and that means time for new adventures.
We know you’re looking for a reason to pack those bags, so here’s why London should be top of your list in early 2025!
Firstly… you get extra special treats at The Pilgrm hotel when you book to stay before 31 March (find out more here), but there are many other reasons too:
It’s oh-so quiet
January is a great time to visit London because the Christmas crowds have gone and it’s at its most peaceful. Whilst February and March may also see fewer tourists than the spring and summer months, January is definitely the quietest you’ll find the capital.
Less queuing
This means more chance of getting into your favourite restaurants, there’s less traffic on the roads and the tubes aren’t as packed! Not forgetting, if you’re visiting museums, galleries or other potentially-touristy spots, you’ll likely get in quickly and have more space to yourself.
Endless bargains
Not only are flights more affordable, but hotel prices are at some of the lowest you’ll find all year, with our rooms at The Pilgrm starting at £107 in January with our winter offer. You’ll also find plenty of enticing offers at theatres, restaurants, bars – we recommend keeping an eye on Timeout London. Of course, if you’re in town for a bit of retail therapy there will be plenty of shops taking part in January sales too.

Aside from it being quieter and more affordable, what else is going on London in early 2025?
Winter Wonderland: we can guarantee that the best time to visit London’s famous Winter Wonderland is between 1-5 January, when the crowds will be half what they are in the lead up to Christmas. And with The Pilgrm just 20 minute walk to the gate, you couldn’t be much better placed – close enough to enjoy it but not too close…
London Short Film Festival: The widely recognised film festival which champions creativity and rebelliousness in film-making returns from 19-28 January, presenting between 250-500 British and international films.
London Art Fair: over 120 modern and contemporary galleries flock to London’s Business Design Centre from 22 - 26 January, where you’ll be able to enjoy a diverse selection of art from both emerging talent and more established names. A modern collectors dream.
Burns night: The celebration of Scottish poet Robert Burns on 25 January means whisky tastings, haggis, ceilidh dancing, poetry readings and if you’re lucky even some bagpipes. Plenty of London restaurants and bars throw their own Burn’s Night parties.
Chinese New Year: The 29th January marks Chinese New Year, which means a spectacular festival in central London and celebrations which flow into February. The parade usually takes place close to the day of the Chinese New Year across the West End (Charing Cross Road, Shaftesbury Avenue and Trafalgar Square). Expect exciting live performances, the largest gathering of Chinese lions and dragons in Europe, and plenty of street food stalls. If you’re staying at The Pilgrm, you can can get directly to Charing Cross on the Bakerloo tube line from Paddington which takes only 13 minutes.
London Fashion Week: taking place from 20–24 February 2025, the glitzy event showcases Autumn/Winter 2025 collections from both established and emerging designers at venues such as Somerset House and The Truman Brewery.
New restaurants and bars opening: There are loads of exciting new openings lined up for early 2025, including La Môme London, Voyage with Adam Simmonds, Cálong from Joo Won, and Gordon Ramsay at 22 Bishopsgate with what will be the highest restaurant in the UK, plus many others.
The beginning of the year can feel a little gloomy with the magic of Christmas behind, but there is plenty going on in our beautiful, bustling city so why not perk yourself (or someone else) up and get a trip lined up? Book your stay here.
