So, what's going on in London in the new year?
Burns Night brings a selection of celebrations across the capital, so if whisky, haggis and poetry is your thing, 25th January is the time to be here. There's also London Short Film Festival and the London Art Fair later on in the month, and a few exciting new restaurant openings with Dove (Notting Hill), Bar Valette (Shoreditch), The Azuki Room (Holborn), and DakaDaka all set to hit the scene.
February marks Chinese New Year, with many celebrations lined up including the annual parade on Sunday February 1 through Chinatown and Trafalgar Square. The month also sees the arrival of Tracey Emin's show at Tate Modern, showing over 90 pieces that celebrate her 40-year career, and an exhibition of the works by the elusive French artist Georges Seurat will open at the Courtauld. If you're feeling romantic, February of course marks Valentines Day and a surprise trip to London is definitely set to impress.
March is the month of International Women's Day (on the 8th), which sounds like the perfect excuse to book in a trip into town with your favourite women and make the most of the many talks, discos, workshops, screenings, exhibitions and chef-residencies that will be popping up in celebration. It's also the month of St Patrick's Day, bringing the renowned St Patrick's Day parade, and the popular party at Camden market.
And whilst there's plenty going on, the first few months of the year also sees less tourists in London - so it makes a great time to visit if you're not one for fighting through crowds.
