UNFILTERED at The Pilgrm
This April, we're very excited to be joining forces once again with wine consultancy and friends of The Pilgrm, Vina Lupa. We're back with another unmissable evening of music, magnums and a specially-created menu, offering guests an exclusive chance to try bottles at accessible prices. After our last UNFILTERED at The Pilgrm, we know that this is going to be a very special evening.
To find out a bit more about what we can expect next week, we had a chat with Vina Lupa's founder, Emily Harman, and Head Chef at The Pilgrm, Sara Lewis...
* How has this all come about? (EH)
UNFILTERED was born in May 2016 in a motorcycle garage called Super Brick. For four days, we had a selection of DJs so the music and wine was different each night. Since then, UNFILTERED has been popping up in different locations across Europe.
* What makes it different to other wine and food evenings? (EH)
UNFILTERED is about embracing great wine, in an informal setting. Magnums make the evening very convivial, the pricing makes the wines more accessible than they usual would be so every one can try these great wines, and we always have a live DJ too. This event is also free entry and not ticketed, so you can simply just turn up.
* What do you enjoy most about UNFILTERED? (SL)
It's super chilled, relaxed eating and drinking without fuss. It's great to have all the magnums lined up on the pass for everyone to see. I love the pouring at the table, it gives a realy warm friendly vibe.
* What do I need to know about wine to join? (EH)
All you need is an interest in drinking and enjoying wine. It's really for anyone who loves to drink wine.
* What can we expect to be able to try, wine-wise? (EH)
The wine list offers fine wine and natural wine at competitive prices - usually a third of the price that they would be sold in restaurants, sometimes even less. The wine list often has between 40-50 different magnums to choose from, ranging in style and price, and the wines by the glass change throughout the evening.
* What's the inspiration behind the food menu? (SL)
Small, delicious plates that we all love to eat whilst out drinking a glass of wine. Keeping with our Pilgrm style of using different flavours and inspiration from our favourite countries, whilst using local produce.
* Can you give us a sneak preview of what we’ll be eating? (SL)
A big piece of cheese that we will serve with some house chutney and bread (who doesnt want cheese with wine?!), a classic portuguese pork and clams dish, and a simple octopus and orange salad. Hopefully some beautiful courgette flowers will make it to the menu, too...
* Who's behind the music and what sort of tunes can we expect? (EH)
Olly Roberts will be playing records all night, he will play a selection of Funk, Soul, Reggae, Groove and Disco.
